Sunday 19th September, Chain Reactions Cycles MTB Marathon - but just the short one.
It rained very heavily on Saturday afternoon and all night. Pity those out on the night ride!
Weather was good on Sunday morning though, as just under 1000 mountain bikers headed out en mass on a choice of 30, 50, 75 and 92km routes. It was muddy. It was slippery. Everyone had the pleasure of the Bwlch Pen Barras climb, whichever route you chose - and at last I have it conquered without getting off to push and its put that one to bed, given that I bottled out of it at the end of the David Lloyd Challenge earlier in the year.
A bit of forest road and single track on the top of Moel Famau then down to the Mold to Ruthin road to the Clwyd Gate before a jaunt over a field and down a very fast rocky track and back into Ruthin.
Enjoyable and just the thing to get back into the MTBing ready for the winter riding.
Muc-off works a treat, by the way.
Here's a cartoon you may enjoy?
